Excerpt:
Amanda enters into the room, quickly closing the door behind her. “Oh, hey. Didn’t expect anyone to be in here yet.”
She goes to her bed and hops up. “What did you do today? Anything fun after the drop?”…Courtney trembles.
“Yo, babe! What’s up?” She says sarcastically, with a New Yorkers accent.
“A police officer…”
Amanda stops her. “No, a donut muncher.”
Courtney swallows. “A donut muncher chased me and Kara earlier. I don’t know if Kara made it.”
“Awe, shit. That’s tuff luck.” Amanda holds the bottom of her boot with one hand as she tries pulling it off.
“What if they caught her?”
“There’s a lot of what ifs. She’s a big girl. I’m sure she’ll be fine.” Amanda tosses her boot to the corner of the room. She slides off her socks, letting her feet air out as she wiggles her toes.
“You aren’t worried?” Courtney is confused. She felt all the girls thought better of one another.
“No. She put on her big girl panties this morning. Why would I be concerned?”
Courtney lays back onto the bed hearing the door squeak open. Seeing Kylee she flies over to her. “Go downstairs with me?”
“Sure.” She looks at Amanda and she shrugs, pulling the left side of her face down, shaking her head.
As the two girls reach the door Dane puts his hand up. “You two are staying in for the night.”
“Dane this will only take a minute. We are only going right out front.” Kylee eyes him.
He motions no with his head, returning his arms crossed to his chest.
“Look!” Courtney speaks louder. “You will see us, dammit.”
Dane squints his eyes, definitely not happy with Courtney as his nostrils widely open. “You have five minutes.”
“The pigs followed us earlier today. Kara and I split up and she still hasn’t made it back today.”
Kylee’s eyes grow wide. “Oh, that could be a problem.”
“If she didn’t beat me back, do you think they got her?”
“If they did she is toast.”
Courtney lowers her head. “That’s what I was afraid of.”….

New Release and Review! Ready For You by JL Berg

I really enjoy this series! Go #oneclick now! I was waiting for this book to come out. I found JL Berg’s work from an anthology. I started to read it and realized that it was a follow up to the first book in this series. I stopped reading it and started from the beginning. It was such a great choice.
Through all the books you know that Garrett has been missing the one he lost. He is a consummate workaholic. Mia ran away from her whole life, leaving Garrett in what he thought was his pain only. There are two sides to every story though.
I enjoyed this book, it had laughter and tears, fun and serious moments. I liked that even with other things in their lives now they never forgot their first loves.
Also the author did not lead them back to each other for everything to be perfect. They had to relearn each other, who they are now and how their separate pasts make them who they are today.

Title: Ready For You
Series: Ready #3
Author: JL Berg
Publication Date: May 26, 2014
Summary: A second chance at first love.

Eight years ago, Garrett Finnegan’s world shattered the day Mia vanished from his life. He’s been struggling to pick up the pieces ever since. Haunted by memories and ghosts of the past, he chooses a solitary existence rather than risk his heart again.

Mia Emerson has made one wrong decision after another but none worse than walking away from the boy who stole her heart so long ago. When her new life is turned upside down, she finds herself returning to her roots and the hometown she left behind. Maybe now she can find a way to heal from the devastating mistakes of her past.

When a chance encounter brings these former lovers together, passion reignites in a way neither is prepared for. Can Garrett move beyond his anger and find a way to forgive? Will Mia’s insecurities and fears cause her to once again flee the life she’s destined to live?

Garrett and Mia will soon discover that they must journey into the past to find their way home.

Excerpt:
With our bags loaded, we started to make our way back to the car, weaving through the crowd and enjoying the sounds of people talking and soft music playing. I smiled when I heard a child laughing. I turned to see a child being thrown over his father’s shoulder.

“Garrett! Stop it! I’m too old to be carried!” The child laughed.

“You’re never too old to be tackled, Connor! We’ve got to get you ready for football!”

That voice—even after eight years, I would recognize it anywhere. My stomach fell to the concrete, and my feet cemented to the ground. I was frozen, completely frozen. Everything slowed. The street noise melted away, and each and every shopper disappeared until I saw him. He had the boy slung over his shoulder. They were both laughing and breathless from their horseplay. He looked older, but it was still him. He still had the same jet-black hair, emerald eyes, and dazzling smile. A beautiful blonde woman was smiling at the two of them as they joked around.

My heart finally caught up to my brain, and it felt like a jackhammer was beating hard and fast in my chest. My hands shook, and my knees suddenly felt weak and wobbly. I had no idea how much time had passed since I saw him.

Minutes? Hours?

I didn’t know, but it couldn’t have been long since Liv was just now noticing my crazy behavior.

“Amelia, are you okay? You look like you just saw a ghost,” she said.

When I didn’t respond, she must have glanced up because I heard her gasp. She’d seen him, too.

“I-I need to get out of here—now,” I gritted through my teeth.

“Are you sure?”

I just nodded and started to turn. I couldn’t face him. He probably hated me.

He had a kid. That hurt. My hand went to my chest, trying to rub out the pain settling there. He had a child. That meant the blonde standing next to him was probably his wife. Garrett was married. It had been eight years. Of course he would be married. I didn’t know why I was surprised, but he wasn’t supposed to be here. He had moved away. He was supposed to stay away. I couldn’t be here if he was still here. I couldn’t breathe if he was still here.

“Come on, sweetheart, let’s get to the car,” Liv said gently, grabbing my arm and guiding me toward the car.

I just gave a brief nod as I let her lead me.

We hadn’t made it three steps before I heard the words that made my heart come to a screeching halt.

“Mia? Mia, is that you?”image

Hold Your Horses

“Charlotte,” he sighed as his lips crashed down on mine and every single thought flew out of my head.

This wasn’t a gentle kiss at all. It was desperate and rough, our mouths ravaging each other and quickly spiraling out of control. It felt like it had been forever since I was last able to touch him. Before long, I was gasping for air, trying to breathe him into me. To hold on to this moment and him forever.

“Sugar, we can’t do this here,” he whispered against my lips as my hands started to unbutton his shirt. I had forgotten we were in my parents’ driveway. Forgotten that they were probably waiting for me inside the house.

“Shit,” I replied, my head dropping down to his chest. I could feel his heart thumping under my cheek. His arms wrapped around me so he could cradle me in his embrace. I loved being this close to him. How could I ever give this up?

Featured Author – Mellie George

image

I read my first Mellie George novella, Rebel: Bad Blooded Rebel Series after reading and loving Terri Anne Browning’s The Rocker series. I really enjoyed what I read! The second BBR novella was out as well, so I quickly bought that one too. Then the wait was on for the next two Ryder and Everleigh books! In that time I also bought and read her other works, Say Yes and Back To Life. I enjoyed both as well.

Recently she published Reckless Redemption: A Bad Blooded Rebel Novel. Since today was supposed to be release day (she hit publish early), we decided to feature both her new release, Reckless Redemption, and Say Yes which is currently on sale in honor of its one-year birthday.

Synopsis
**MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY-CONTAINS ADULT CONTENT**

How do you get back a love you thought you’d lost? If you have it, will you do whatever you can to keep it?

Beau Cavanaugh had lived a hard life before becoming famous as the lead guitarist of Bad Blooded Rebel, a band he formed with his childhood friends Ryder Matthews, Kris Engle, and Jude Miller. He thought he had it made when they hit it big…tons of money, endless parties, and countless girls willing to throw themselves at him for a night in his bed. However, when he meets a beautiful blonde back stage at one of their hometown shows, his life changes for good…and bad.

Danni Sharpe has been a Bad Blooded Rebel fan from the beginning and had always had a thing for their lead guitarist, Beau. She could barely contain her excitement when she meets him backstage at a show and when he kisses her before she leaves, she instantly melts into him and sparks fly.

Their attraction is instantaneous and they soon fall into a “friends with benefits” relationship with neither one willing to admit their feelings were starting to run deeper and lines were beginning to blur. When an event happens in New York, Beau falls into a deep depression and drowns his sorrow in alcohol after hurting Danni deeper than anyone ever had.

After a desperate call, Danni moves to be closer to Beau and help save him from himself, but is her presence alone enough? Can they work out all of the past hurt and find love again?

THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF THE BAD BLOODED REBEL SERIES OF NOVELS! YOU MUST READ REBEL, ROGUE, RENEGADE, AND REDEEMED FIRST!

Kim’s Review:
Reckless Redemption Review
I could not wait for this book to come out, and I was not disappointed! It is a continuation of the Bad Blooded Rebel novella series, as Beau and Dani’s relationship started there. While in New York however, miscommunications happened and hearts were broken.
Beau fell into a depression and drinking. Dani was the only one able to get him out of it and get some help. They both loved each other still, but the hurt was deep.
This book had less drama and angst than the first, but I enjoyed how the author took the couple from friends, to lovers, which led to broken hearts, healing and finally getting back together.
Beau stole my heart in this book as a transformed bad boy playboy rocker who fell hard when he fell in love. I enjoyed his transformation!
I love how all the other characters and band mates are very interwoven with each other, and I cannot wait for more of the Bad Blooded Rebel’s stories to come out!

Jennie’s Review:

As one of the biggest fans of the Bad Blooded Rebel series (if I do say so myself) and an even bigger fan of the amazingly awesome Mellie George, I could not wait to get my hands on Reckless Redemption. After all the angst and drama Ryder and Everleigh went through to get their happy ever after, I was dying to find out what happened next. Not only with their story but with Danni and Beau’s as well. Would they finally find peace and happiness? Or had their mistakes caused so much pain and damage they could not be repaired?

Reckless Redemption grabbed me from the very first sentence and didn’t let me go until the very last! I cannot get this story out of my head, and honestly I’m not sure I want to just yet. This is the story of Danni and Beau; it’s everything that happens AFTER the NYC drama. I do not want to give away any of the plot, I think readers need to experience it for themselves, and I will not spoil the fun for anyone. However, I will say that the book is filled with emotion. I shed plenty of tears, I laughed often and I almost always had a smile on my face. My heart raced when the story got angsty and I love that feeling. That’s when I know I’ve fallen in love with the story. I wanted to be there with Danni, to offer hugs and support, and Beau? Well I just fell more and more in love with him as the story went on. He is one hot rocker! Not only does he know just how to please a woman, but his heart is so big and so full of love, he’s just a dream come true.

Of course it wouldn’t be a Bad Blooded Rebel story without plenty of appearances by all the other band members and the girls. Their conversations are fun, amusing and just so enjoyable to read, and their stories continue to develop throughout the book. I know deep down who my favorite BBR is, but I can say I have fallen for all of them. They all treat their women right and their intentions are all good. Yes, even Jude’s got a soft side. ☺

Mellie George has written a true gem with Reckless Redemption. I’ve loved every book she’s written, but I honestly believe this is her finest work yet. Her writing style is flawless; the story flows beautifully and captures everything the characters are going through in a truly enjoyable way. It is clear that she has put her heart and soul into this story, and really isn’t that what being an author is all about?

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Mellie George, for bringing these hot rockers to life and for giving Danni and Beau the chance to tell their story. I cannot wait for more!

Say Yes

Just because we can, and because it is on sale this month, we also wanted to feature Say Yes, Mellie George’s first work!

Synopsis

Lilly Harrington was living the life of her dreams and making a name for herself as a top chef at a famous restaurant in San Francisco. She thought she had gotten everything she ever wanted until she went back to her home town of Glenbrook, Georgia for her youngest sister’s wedding over the Christmas holiday. Lilly soon finds herself faced with Luke, her first love that she ran away from the night before she left for college…who was now the best man in her sister’s wedding. Being around him immediately awakens feelings she thought long gone, and it’s making her second guess all of her choices. What do you do when your head and heart are pulling you in two different directions?

Jennie’s Review:

So for those of you who don’t already know this, I am a HUGE fan of Mellie George. I love her Bad Blooded Rebel series with all the hot rockers. So when I realized she had written her debut novel a year ago, the first in a different series, I had to give it a try. And I am so glad I did!

Say Yes (Book #1, Glenbrook Girls series) is a wonderful, feel-good love story. The kind that makes you smile and feel all warm inside. I fell in love with the characters from the very beginning; Lilly Harrington, a famous chef in California returns home to small-town Georgia for her sister’s wedding and some much needed R&R. She gets more than she planned when she runs into an old friend, Luke Beckett and sparks fly as memories resurface.

In addition to the main characters there are plenty of supporting characters that I really enjoyed meeting. They’ve all got great personalities and I’m hoping the author will consider giving them their own stories in the future.

What I loved about Say Yes is that it is not riddled with drama for the sake of drama. In fact drama is minimal in this story, which is a refreshing change from a lot of romance books out there. There is plenty of emotion, I did shed a few tears, but I also laughed at times. When the story ended it left me in a wake of happiness, although I didn’t actually want to reach the end and say goodbye to Luke and Lilly.

Another fabulous story from the amazing Mellie George! Thank you for bringing these characters to life and I hope to see more of them in the future.

Excerpt:
Human life held value. A virgin body attracted more wealth
than a used up hag. What my master had paid for mine, I hadn’t known. I’d been
born of unfortunate circumstance and abandoned as an infant. Like most women in
the rebuilt world, I’d existed as a slave to men. Slaves never voiced opinions
if they’d wished to live. Without an owner, I’d wilt away or fall to the harsh
conditions of the broken world.
At eighteen and on my birthday, all I’d celebrated was my
new sale. With a single suitcase grasped in my hand, I’d boarded the steam
engine, and departed Delphia for the first time in my life. My destination,
over ten hours from the Hampshire House of the Lady, lay in one of the three
surviving countries of the Sundering. Arcadia was where my new owner lived.
Hard to believe it an improvement of my situation, but rather a woman belonged
to a single man than those visiting the brothel.
“Ticket miss?” the man interrupted my daydreaming thoughts
as the door to my compartment skidded open. I fished into the pocket of my used
pea coat and handed him the crumpled documents. He whistled low as his eyes
raked over me. My skin crawled with a hundred bugs, and my stomach lurched from
the sudden jostle of the train.
“Business or pleasure?” He accentuated the pleasure. I
thanked the dim lights and hid my blush in the shadows. His hand punched my
ticket, and he marked something on his clipboard. But those eyes kept rolling
over me, and his tongue grazed his teeth.
We slowed down, and my legs itched to run for it as the
steam driven lights dimmed inside my train car. Vehicles, small ships, and some
older trains operated on the steam systems, but the tracks were older and worn
from the icy elements. Steam remained cheap; trash was by far the cheapest.
That much I’d understood from the overheard newscasts and conversations. I
shifted in my seat as the train pulled to a screeching stop on the platform.
Fancy women and groomed men waited their turn as the passengers departed.
“Business.” I forced a smile and met his glassy stare.
Women were different now; I guessed but I had no notions of
the real world beyond stolen moments of television. Even then, I hadn’t
followed much of what they’d explained. New laws had passed, revoking old rules
where men couldn’t own humans, let alone women as property. Females once
established within the governments had found themselves forced from their
positions. Even soldiers and officers found themselves without jobs, and they
became instant scapegoats. God spoke; the man on the television had believed
and blamed the rise of feminine power for the Sundering. Free men had believed
the wild banter as the upper class citizens sought a reason. There lived a rationale
for everything in life, and every wicked deed they had viewed as a punishment.
To me it was a bunch of hogwash, but it had remained the truth.
“Awful long way to travel for a young miss such as
yourself.” His eyes said what his lips hadn’t. I was alone and a slave. At
least the tinted talc hid the marks in my hair, turning the twisted mass into a
pale lilac shade. Wanton men took a glance and knew what services I offered.
Usually, I wore two thick swatches of purple streaked through my dark hair. The
unmistakable sign had announced to others that I remained pure –a prize among
the men but a whopping, fat lie. Nothing about me was wholesome anymore, and
everyone I passed knew it too.
Sure, to him I was young –small enough to pass for a child-
bundled in my coat, but I’d forgotten about the uniform. Even hidden beneath
the wool, my corset squeezed against my boney ribs and dug deeper into my
already marred flesh. Years of training allowed me to block the pain, but I
wasn’t used to the stares of strange men.
At the house, men knew better than to touch me when Jules
was there. My body had belonged to him, and he remained their boss, but I
couldn’t rely on him any longer. Instinct kicked in, and I moved away from the
man, placing my body against the wall of my compartment. I shivered, but there
wasn’t even a hairline gap between the metal barrier and me. He stepped
forward, not bothering to close the door, and my heartbeat quickened. My lungs
burned as he approached, and the scent of his aftershave nauseated my stomach.

“Excuse me,” a deep, accented voice called from the train
car’s hallway.

Hope to see you all there!!

Review of Bee Helpful by J.W. Edwards

I am a mom first to two beautiful boys. I chose to review this book for my 3 year old.

Review:
My son and me really enjoyed this book. It is still a bit old for him but he liked the pictures and finding items I would ask him to look for in the page. I really liked the concept of this book. I thought it was very sweet of the bee to try to get water over long distances for his friend the sunflower even though they were “different” and bees don’t help flowers. I also enjoyed the end, where the bee went through many trials but was still able to help. Its a sweet story about being willing to help a friend no matter what. If you have little ones I highly recommend this book!

HTML:
BeeHelpfulBannerBee_Helpful_webFor Sunny Bee, being truly helpful means going anywhere and everywhere. When his beautiful sunflower friend Myah becomes very ill, Sunny travels to the “far side of the hills” seeking help. Faced with a series of challenges including a raging storm, large spiders, or even the intimidating Grandfather Oak, Sunny’s dedication never wavers! (ages 4 – 8)

Abigail Gentry knew her life was going to change when her mother lost her battle with cancer, but she couldn’t have possibly anticipated what that change would entail.
He’s been a Guardian and protector of the human realm for thousands of years, and Cillian’s giving it all up for her.

She will discover her purpose on earth; he will discover the simplest of human emotions.  Abigail always thought she was just an ordinary woman, but oh, how she’s in for a big surprise.  Everything she’s ever believed will be shattered and the truth will set her on a course of good, evil, near-death experiences, demon possessions, and real love.

T.E. Ridener entered the world in the magnificent year of 1985. She’s an avid reader, crazy writer, and photoshop addict. She started writing stories at a young age, and will probably do so until she takes her last breath. Forever the daydreamer, not a day passes in which Miss Ridener isn’t working on something book related. Her books may be a work of fiction, but there is a lot of truth in each one.
Creating relatable characters and believable storylines mixed in with make-believe is what she is best known for. She always includes a strong female lead, a compassionate male, and tons of every day events that readers will be able to connect with. Miss Ridener is a lover of music, movies, TV shows, and her family.
During the months of November and December, she participates in the charity she helped create called Random Acts of Christmas, an online program geared towards making Christmas happen for families in need. In 2013, they gave over $69,000 in gifts to kids who otherwise would not have had presents to open on Christmas morning. Coming from a childhood of poverty, T.E. understands that life isn’t always easy and she has experienced living from paycheck to paycheck. This has fueled her drive to always lend a helping hand in every form possible. She is very active in the group “Books for Troops”, a program designed to send ebooks and paperbacks to soldiers currently serving overseas.
T.E. Ridener is the youngest of 3 children, a surviving twin, and an extremely proud aunt. She claims to be married to her books and the characters she creates are her kids. Thus far, she has produced three ongoing series entitled Blood Betrayal (vampires), The Kadenburg Shifters Series (bear-shifters), and The Descendants (elementals). There are loads more and new ones popping up each day. She LOVES her fans and readers, and not a single one of them appear as a number to her. She knows that without them, she wouldn’t be where she is today. Every day is a new possibility, a new adventure, and a new dream. Life doesn’t get any better than that.

THE MISSING YEARS is the final piece to Aleatha Romig’s CONSEQUENCES SERIES

puzzle. Follow the twists and turns as secrets are revealed, consequences are

delivered, and the future is shown.

In CONVICTED we saw what happened that fateful afternoon at the Rawlings

Estate. Now experience the shocking repercussions firsthand. More than a

companion, this full-length novel fills in the gap of time that was only

mentioned, beginning when Claire Nichols forgets and seen through the eyes of

collective men (the HIS is plural).

In THE MISSING YEARS, readers will see Anthony Rawlings fight for what

belongs to him and cope with the reality of his past. Watch as Harrison Baldwin

discovers the truth that threatens his beliefs, and as John Vandersol comes to

terms with his revelations. Witness Phillip Roach, as he decides with whom his

loyalties lay, and Brent Simmons, as he demonstrates the meaning of

friendship—no matter the cost.

As the pieces of the puzzle fall into place, BEHIND HIS EYES CONVICTED goes

beyond. This final installment of the series offers a glimpse into the future

of the lives that will forever be changed because there was a man who…

Once upon a time, signed a napkin that he knew was

a contract. As an esteemed businessman, he forgot one very important rule—he

forgot to read the fine print. It wasn’t an acquisition to own another person

as he’d previously assumed. It was an agreement to acquire a soul.
