insists on it.

When she’s not writing, Nevaeh is a
freelance book editor ;). And when she’s not reading, writing, or editing, she
can be found spending time with her family, exploring the area around wherever
she happens to be living at the time. Even though “home” will always be Texas,

My Review

I am a fan of hockey romance. I do not play or watch hockey but for some reason I enjoy reading about it. I saw that this book was coming out and I was excited! I was not disapointed. Have you ever wanted something so bad in your life that you might agree to just about anything? Ethan has always wanted a professional hockey team to come to Seattle and he finally is able to buy one, the catch is a gag order that the league puts him under. So he decides to travel to FL (I find it amusing that FL would have a hockey team!) to meet the team and staff and use the gag order to his advantage. Once there he meets Lauren, who was raised around hockey, and loves everything hockey, not that her father sees that. In this male dominated world she has fought for her position, and Ethan happily finds that not only is she beautiful but she has more knowledge then most about the inner workings of the team. I enjoy seeing a female character that is sucessful in a male dominate job, and I liked Lauren very much.
As time goes on, Lauren and the team find out that they are being moved, which none of them really wanted, and that some big changes are going to happen in the way that the team is run. Ethan wants to build a sucessful team and wants the best so still under the guise of checking out the team he offers her a job. Of course by now they have started building a relationship and as soon as the gag order is lifted they all know that Ethan is not all he said he was.
The team and Lauren are disgruntled but they move, and Lauren and Ethan are eventually able to work around their differences and come together. Not only that but the move sets up the teams characters for some romance of their own! I can’t wait to get more of this series.

I really enjoyed this book. It was different and unique. I don’t know that I would call it a traditional paranormal novel, but the “haunting” as it were, was a new twist for me. I enjoyed it immensely.

Dominic and Karlie’s story is one I normally would not enjoy, but their love grew out of something that is very normal in his circle, of the mob. As I read this book I really connected with Dominic. I felt like he wanted something more for Karlie and pushed to get it for her.

I wanted so badly for Karlie and Dominic to get their happy ending, but alas it does not exactly happen in that fashion. What I can tell you is that I kept reading this book and did not want to put it down. I think Andrea Smith did a great job in this first book of the series and I want to read more for sure!
