Synopsis

One fateful morning changes everything.

Lisbeth Anderson, the lone eyewitness of a shocking murder, believes the FBI witness protection program may be the only way for her to survive. But when a powerful explosion reduces the safe house to ashes, killing all of the FBI agents on duty, will she turn to a perfect stranger for help?

Ethan McCoy, an ex-Marine-turned-firefighter, has never really cared for any woman. He lives his life to the fullest, enjoying the bad boy stigma and cultivating a particular taste for dominant sex. Girls come and go, allowed to stay only long enough to satisfy Ethan’s wild appetite.

One morning at dawn, Ethan’s fire brigade is called to a fatal house explosion that levels the structure. When he pries open a trap door to the hidden panic room under the house, he finds a gorgeous, though disheveled brunette. Lisbeth instantly turns Ethan’s world upside down, and he’s overcome by the burning desire to protect her, no matter the consequences.

My Review

So this book is a different one for the author but man I enjoyed it! I have to say that when I started it one night the next day I wish I did not have to work so I could just read!
Lisbeth (Gloria) witnesses a horrific crime against a friend and turns states witness. She is offered protection from the FBI and the witness protection program. Sadly there is no real protection and the safe house she is in is attacked and her watcher agents are killed. Ethan and his engine team are first on scene and his presence instantly calms Lisbeth’s panic attack. When Lisbeth realizes there is someone in the FBI who compromised her location she is terrified. Ethan her new rock, however offers a plan.
Their chemistry sizzles and this romantic suspense is awesome. I love that his family and his friends are there to support him and that he protects her. This is a book to pick up for sure!
I was given a copy to read and review but I liked it so much that I have bought my own copy to re-read, which is my sign of a good book!

Sweet Fall by Tillie Cole spotlight!!!!

So I agreed to the Sweet Fall tour for Tillie Cole. I got excited and even signed up to do a Q&A with the Author for you all. Then I read the book. Such an awesome book that you are now getting the full treatment! Two reviews of Sweet Fall and the Q&A are to follow. I hope you take the time to read this one, its a great post!

image

Q and A with Tillie Cole

1) With each book your work seems to get darker, is this a path you plan to stay on? Will you dabble in other genres?
I adore the darker route my writing is going down. That being said, I have 4 books scheduled for next year, three of which are a YA fantasy Trilogy. This will be completely different from anything I’ve ever done before. In fact, I am almost finished the first book in that trilogy and I love it!
I have always, and will forever, continue to write whatever inspires me, and that, in theory, could be in any genre.

2) Will there be a novella on the pregnancy and birth of Rome and Molly’s first child after the miscarriage?
No. In Sweet Hope, Ally’s novel, you will see Rome and Molly around that time, so that will give Molly and Rome fans some insight into their future. Ally moves in with them for a while in Seattle when her career takes her there. But here will be no novella. The fourth and final book will be Sweet Hope, and that will be out next year. It is set when all the gang are in their mid-twenties. I can’t wait to write this one! I already have the epilogue and it simply makes me smile!!!
3) Do you feel more pressure with the Sweet Fall release due to it being so much more personal to you than some of your other works?
Yes and no. It is VERY different to Sweet Home, so there is always the worry that SH fans will be slightly taken aback with the topics Sweet Fall addresses, of the darker route it has taken. It also discusses some very personal and controversial themes. There was pressure to get them right, but being that I personally went through a disorder that Lexi is living with, I simply wrote it honestly, personally and from my heart.
Sweet Fall is it’s own story from Sweet Home, so I felt pressure to make it stand proud beside Sweet Home. I feel as though I’ve achieved this and the initial reaction from bloggers and readers has been astounding. I’m truly humbled.

BLURB

From the USA Today Best Selling Sweet Home Series, comes Sweet Fall; a tale of heartache, beating the odds and finding strength in the most unlikeliest of places.
We all have secrets.

Secrets well buried.

Until we find the one soul who makes the burden of such secrets just that little bit easier to bear.

Lexington “Lexi” Hart is a senior at the University of Alabama. Surrounded by her best friends, her loving family and having fulfilled her life-long dream of making the Crimson Tide cheer squad, everything is going exactly as she always dreamed it would. But beneath her happy exterior, demons lurk, threatening to jeopardize everything Lexi has worked to achieve.

When events in her life become too much to cope with, Lexi finds herself spiraling down into the realm of her biggest fear. Lexi falls hard, victim once again to the only thing that can destroy her and, on the way, finds herself falling straight into the dangerous tattooed arms of a guy from the wrong side of the tracks.

Austin Carillo, starting Wide Receiver for the Alabama Crimson Tide, must get picked in this year’s NFL draft. He needs it. His brothers need it. Most importantly, his mother desperately needs it. Brought up in a world where the poor are forgotten, the sick are left to fend for themselves and no hero miraculously appears to pull you out of hell, Austin had no other choice but to make a living on the wrong side of the law—until football offered Austin the break to get his life back on track.

But when a family tragedy drags him back into the clutches of the gang he believed he had left far behind, Austin finds himself falling. Falling back into criminal ways and falling deep into a suffocating darkness. Until a troubled yet kindred spirit stumbles across his path, where Austin quickly finds he is falling for a young woman—a young woman who might just have the power to save him from his worst enemy: himself.

Can two troubled souls find a lasting peace together? Or will they finally succumb to the demons threatening to destroy them?

Tracey-Lee’s Review

I would like to start off by saying fenomenale Tillie Cole! I am in complete awe of you and your strength. I thank you for sharing yourself and making this story something so, so special.

Already being a fan of Tillie’s Sweet Series I was worried when I heard that Sweet Fall would be dark and gritty. Can I tell you, I had no reason to be! Tillie had said SF would be an emotional rollercoaster, how emotionally draining this book was for her to write but before reading the foreword I had no idea!!! I knew from that point this journey she was about to take me on was one I have never experienced.

Every day is a struggle in the life of Lexington Hart. Lexi has a very big, very dangerous secret; one she fight’s daily to keep hidden from her friends, from the world. Putting all her hard work, all her rehabilitation to the test Lexi puts herself back out there and joins the Crimson Tide Cheer Squad – her passion, the thing she loved most; but it’s also the thing that tests her strengths, her ability to prevent the voice from taking control. Throw in a troubled tattooed bad boy with his own secrets and his own struggles into the mix and you have one heartbreaking love story. Austin Carillo has a reputation; he an Italian, tattooed, bad boy with a rough past and is the wide receiver for the Crimson Tide. Trying to put his gang affiliation behind him and make the NFL, trying to make something of himself to get his famiglia out of living in the hell they call life and he will do whatever it takes to make sure this happens.
His brothers start dealing drugs on campus and jeopardise everything he’s worked so hard for. Austin’s mother is extremely ill and they cannot afford her medication, so they make their money and look after each other the way they know how and this has Austin torn. When Lexi witnesses a drug deal going down at the school Austin is determined to protect his family, to protect his future and he needs to make sure she stays quiet. What he doesn’t know is she is as broken as he is. Fate steps in and Austin finds Lexi tends to always show up when he needs it.

“We all have secrets, Austin. Some peoples are bigger than others, that’s all. Wouldn’t you agree?”

These two troubled souls are brought together by fate, finding themselves in the right or wrong place at the right time when the other needs it most even if they don’t realise it at first. Lexi and Austin made each other strong; they made each other want to be better, do better. They were each other’s salvation.
“Why the war paint, Pix?”
“Because I can’t stand the girl underneath,” she whispered

“Why the tattoos?” Lexi asked
“Because I can’t bear seeing the scars of my past.”

Sweet Fall proved to me that you can’t judge a book by its cover. A guy with tattoos and piercings from the wrong side of the tracks, or a preppy cheerleader who is always wearing a perfect smile, no matter how good or bad one my seem you never truly know a person or the inner demons they are struggling to fight on a daily basis.
Another must read by Tillie Cole. ❤

Kim’s Review

I really like Tillie Cole’s writing. It makes me stop and think. Now I read a lot. I can’t really defind or quantify it for you but just know that it is a lot. So a book that gives me a book hangover for a couple of days is a rare book indeed.
I love Molly and Rome. I cannot deny this. As I started reading Austin and Lexi (aka Pix) book I was worried that I would not have the same connection with them. To be honest I did not. Not even close.

I liked that in the begining of the book Austin was a jerk and I did not want to like him. Why would anyone want that? Well as I chatted with a fellow book nut tonight we decided that often charcters in books do not face real issues. Oh there may be some sort of agnst for them to fight through but it usually is easily solved, often with the guy saving the girl. In Austin you have someone whose family is fighting a fight that most of us are not aware of really going on. They are not only struggling with life and death on the streets but life and death of the glue that holds their family together, their mom.

Lexi – here is a girl that has the perfect life, why she is in a sorority, and is a cheerleader for one of the most widely known college football teams. To get on the team is no easy feat. You have to have skill, and lets be honest look the part. Lexi fits, but at the same time presents herself as a goth girl. But underneath all the war paint she is terrified to look in the mirror. She is anorexic and while I have a completely different side of this story in my life it all boils down to Body Dysmorphic Disorder. It is hell to look in the mirror and cut down the things you see. Most of us live our lives doing exactly that.

Austin hides his scars behind the tattoos, Lexi behind her war paint. Its so easy to identify with these characters. I loved the path that Ms Cole took us down and I cannot wait for the next Sweet book to come out — I have my ideas on who Ally marries..

I found a quote once and I said it many times in my head to Lexi as she fought her demons, I wanted to just hug her – I hope we all remember it — “I am my own biggest critic. Before anyone has criticized me, I have already criticized myself. But for the rest of the life I am going to be with me and I don’t want to spend my life with someone who is always so critical. So I am going to stop being my own critic. Its high time I accept all the good things about me.” C JoyBell C. (This is by far one of the hardest quotes to live by!!)

I recommend this book to you. Take with you an open mind and a pure heart and you will find the absolute beauty within. Bravo Tillie Cole, Bravo.

Tillie Cole is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. New Author To Watch!! Anne Jolin and her debut novel Chasing Rhodes

My Review

Author to watch for!!

Chasing Rhodes is a debut novel, and Anne Jolin is an author to watch folks. I liked Hannah and her family and friends. They are people that you want to hang out with in real life. Hannah was in a relationship with Jackson and was not really happy anymore. What I really appreciated about this book is that she broke up with him, with no intention of starting with anyone else. Then there was Greyson…
Greyson believes that he will end up like his father, and decides that he should give Hannah up. Their chemistry is hot and Greyson is sweet if not messed up.
Now I wished I had more of Greyson POV or his backstory, and I wanted Hannah to stand up to him a bit more, but I also had to remember that this is a NA novel and the characters are young, sometimes I think we miss that about the age group. I really liked that Greyson was trying and wanted to be more like Hannah’s family then his father and example that he grew up with.
I know the author is working on the second novel in the series and I am looking forward to reading that one as well. I think this author will just get better and better with each novel she writes.

old moldy brick wall

Release Date: August 13, 2014

Synopsis:

Hannah Rhodes has just gotten out of a long term relationship, and she isn’t looking for a new man in her life. But after a night out with the girls and one too many tequila shots, her plans to stay man free are blown all to hell. She finds herself in bed with the smoldering stranger from a party six months back and immediately knows she’s in trouble, big trouble. And the last thing Hannah needs is more trouble.

Her last relationship took her out like an emotional freight train, and she’s trying to piece back the stability her life once had.

Greyson Holt’s biggest fear in life is to end up like his father, like the man who left him as a child, and broke his mother’s heart. He vowed to never be responsible for that kind of carnage. Men could be cruel and that kind of brutality was in his blood. He never allows himself to get too close to anyone, until he meets Hannah.

Something about her makes him want to try, but a man can’t change overnight.

Will Holt be able to catch Rhodes every time he lets her go? Or will their chase end in heartbreak?

About the Author:

I’m twenty four years old. I was born and raised in Ladner, a small farm town just outside of Vancouver, Canada. I grew up riding horses, shooting guns with my daddy and driving my ’99 red chevy truck, Clifford. I’ve been together with my handsome redneck, Jacob, for five years and this August we will be celebrating our one year wedding anniversary. I am completely and utterly obsessed with country music. I love to snowboard, go on walks with Bear (Not a real bear silly! Our chocolate lab) and I love to plan events; I don’t know if that’s considered a real hobby, but it is for me!

We were fortunate enough to travel a lot as a family, and I think that helped spark my love of reading. I’m half Viking, my mom is Danish, and her entire side of the family still lives in Denmark. We’d visit them almost once a year, every year and it’s a nine hour flight. That’s a lot of uninterrupted time to read (or in my parent’s case, entertain four children – Yikes!). My love of reading quickly turned into a passion for writing. I loved to write short stories and although I majored in Business Management, I took as many English electives I could get my hands on in college.

I’m a reader, turned blogger, turned author. I started a blog this June ’14 because I love to talk about the amazing books I’ve read, and after a few suggestions that I try writing a book, I decided to give it a go. I loved it instantly! Having always been a creative person, it felt amazing to harness all that energy and use it to tell a story that I love. I enjoy incorporating bits of my real life into the stories I write – What parts are true? Hah. I’ll never tell, what would be the fun in that?

I am beyond excited to be embarking on this new journey as an author and I hope y’all can join me on the ride!

REVIEW

My Review of Beautifully Forgotten

I read Beautifully Damaged when it first came out. I liked it. When it was edited again and more about the other characters I was given the chance to read and review it. I liked the book the first time but really, really enjoyed it the second time. I loved Ember and Trace but I had a soft spot the whole time for Lucian. When I saw the chance to read and review his story I was all in!

The night that I read this book I wished I did not have to go to work the next day, as I stayed up reading all night. At 4:30 AM I had to give up and go to bed! I could not wait to finish when I got back up.

I was hooked on Lucian and Darcy’s story. I loved how when they reconnected that they both were on egg shells until one day Darcy stands up for herself and the actions as a young woman. I like when the female characters are not just the type of women that need to be “fixed”, but rather they can stand on their own two feet. I believe that female characters don’t HAVE to have a man, but the one they find compliments them. That is what Darcy and Lucian do for each other.

I am not a fan of spoilers but I have to tell you, that you need to read this book. Here is why:

I enjoy the authors style of writing. She keeps me captivated. There are plot twists and turns. Things that make you want to say “What?!? No Way!!” I even teared up. I enjoy that there is a lot about all of the friends in the book. The main and side characters are well developed. Add to it that the friends lives, and issues are so intertwined that the continuing lives of Ember and Trace are important and are a big part of the book. The part of me that loves to be in the world that the author created, and visiting old friends, LOVES this style of writing. I love that these men are Alpha males who when they find a woman to love they are ALL IN for always, not just for right now.
I highly recommend that you read Beautifully Damage and Beautifully Forgotten. I was given an ARC of both of them, and bought both as well. For me that is always a sign of a book well written.

EXCERPT

Lucien watched as Darcy struggled to get the printer working. Even from his distance he could hear the cursing, which made him smile. It had been a week since their relationship had taken a very pleasant turn. She was still just as feisty as he remembered and it wasn’t hard for him to recall why he had fallen for her in the first place. Their sparring was verbal foreplay and he fucking craved it. His eyes moved over her. Her body was nothing like the one he had known, with curves that his hands itched to touch. Her hair was up, though he preferred it down, and tendrils were falling out of the twist. He remembered vividly the sight of it spread out over his pillow.

He had to admit that she was still just as interesting to him as she had been at fourteen. Despite everything, she was still his Darcy—sweet, witty, and guileless, except at the moment. She looked about ready to torch the printer, so he moved to help her. As he approached, she was actually staring into the paper tray, yelling at the creatures that lived inside it.

He chuckled, which must have taken her by surprise, because she leaped backward and landed on his foot.

“Fuck!” he cursed.

“Sorry.”

He looked down at her strappy sandals with heels high enough to stake a vampire and had a vision of those legs draped over his shoulders. Instantly, he was hard.

“I was going to offer to help you. The printer can be temperamental, but now I’m bleeding out from a stab wound.”

She didn’t miss a beat. “It probably didn’t even break the skin. What is it you guys say? Rub some dirt into it.”

He eyed her shoes. “Those things should be listed as lethal weapons.”

“Hardly. There are far cheaper ways to kill someone.” She bent to stare into the printer again and Lucien took the opportunity to check out the curve of her ass in the little black skirt she wore.

“Stop checking out my ass and help me.”

Not at all repentant for getting caught staring, he replied easily, “It’s a paper jam.”

He thought he was being helpful and when she straightened slowly, he entertained the notion that she was struggling with the need to throw herself into his arms in gratitude.

One look at her face, though, and he knew he wasn’t going to be copping a feel.

“Your powers of deduction are astounding. Seriously, you should give a seminar on mastering the obvious.”

He tried not to laugh, but he lost that battle. And she responded by flaying a layer of skin off him with her sharp tongue.

“I know it’s a paper jam, Sherlock, I just can’t find it.”

“It’s usually in the back,” Lucien said as he reached for the back of the printer, his arm brushing up against her on purpose. Darcy’s inhaled breath in response had his balls tightening. He dislodged the paper and pulled it free.

He turned to her with a smug smile, which she returned with uncanny accuracy before she said, “Thanks. I almost lost my cool.”

“Almost?”

A slight smile touched her lips. “I should go restart my print job.”

“Probably, unless you can get the little men in the printer to do it.”

Brownies.”

“What?”

She laughed. “Not the baked goods, the little mischievous mystical creatures.”

“They live in my printer?”

“Maybe.” She started away, but stopped and turned to him.“Thanks.”

“Have dinner with me tonight.”

She eyed him through her lashes before she said, “You’re on.”

And then she turned and disappeared into her office.

Cowgirl Crazy (#2, Cowboy Way)

by

Author Becky McGraw

July 21st

becky rb.jpg

Blurb:

Twyla Taylor is one frustrated cowgirl. She’s not winning at barrel racing or in love. She’s spent ten years nursing a crush on her brother’s best friend,
Ryan Easter, who thinks of her as no more than his little sister. When Twyla catches Ryan with yet another no-good buckle bunny, and calls him out, he
tells her to get a life, and that is exactly what she decides to do. One that does not include a buckle-bunny-chasing cowboy with a bad attitude, or an
overbearing older brother.

Ryan Easter is one frustrated cowboy. He’s winning every night at bronc riding, and has a different woman in every city. Mostly so he can keep his best
friend’s fiery little sister, and his desire for her, at bay. Since she grew those proud little breasts of hers, and mile-long legs, Ryan has had to fight
his attraction to her. If her brother knew what he was thinking, he would kill Ryan, if her daddy didn’t first. Ryan valued the surrogate family the
Taylor’s provided him with too much to ever go there with their youngest member.

His diversion techniques work like a charm, until one night he pushes her too far, and Twyla takes off. Ryan knows he has to find her quickly and
apologize, or face his best friend’s wrath. He finds Twyla in Dallas and decides she’s definitely gone cowgirl crazy. He barely recognizes her, because his
barrel-racing tomboy is wearing makeup that looks like it was put on with a putty knife and she’s working at a bar which borders on a cowgirl strip club.
When she isn’t serving shots off of her stomach, she’s shaking her round ass for any man with a dollar to shove into the waistband of her barely-there
shorts.

Twyla refuses to leave with him, and Ryan knows he better make his final arrangements, or come up with another way to convince her and fast.

All saints have a future. But, does being born in fire make the fissures weak in all the wrong places, or stronger than they’ve ever known?

Kolton Tats3

Meet the Author Shelby grew up between two mountains and a lake in Wasilla, Alaska. She used to run around in the tall grass, catch frogs, rescue dragonflies, ride horses, and ice-skate during recess. She still likes adventures and has even gone skydiving. Today she lives in Northern California with her husband, John, and their daughter, Elise, their two dogs, and a fish named Jade. excerpt I wait for Kolton on the front porch swing. Earlier, while he was in the shower, I opened the back doors of the helicopter and got my bag out. I’ve packed my clothes and am staring out at the hill with all the cacti and desert bushes. I hear his steps coming toward me, and he sits down next to me, much calmer now.

“You need to bring the phone I gave you everywhere. Promise me.”

“Why?” He glares at me, so I concede. “I promise.” I’m struck by the green in his eyes, the red fleck embedded into them like rust. He picks up my legs and drapes them over his thighs as he moves closer.

My eyes closed as he takes charge, wrapping his fingers around the back of my neck and tilting my chin up with his thumbs. “Look at me,” he says. I open my eyes just long enough to see his pained expression before he eases some of the ache with his lips on mine, soft and expressive, like a song.

His tongue coaxes me to respond, and I do. His hand moves from behind my knee up to my hips as he licks and sucks his way to just below my ear before taking my lips again. I pull his tongue into my mouth, sucking on it. The way he moves inside my mouth makes me crazy for him. I want him. I know I can’t resist.

He takes my upper arms and holds me in place as he kisses me one more time, softly. Then he pulls away. I move toward him and he shakes his head ‘no.’ I realize then, that was our goodbye kiss.

“What happens now?” I ask, my voice shaky.

“Now I try and live without you,” he says. I’m spinning around that statement as he takes my hand, walks me toward his rock star ride, opens the back door to the helicopter and puts my bag inside. We fly away, and all the way home, he never offers to let me take the controls again.
