About ZB Heller:
As a little girl it was always a dream for Z.B. Heller to become She-Ra Princess of Power. Since this dream was unobtainable, she spent what was probably way to long in college trying to “find herself”. Becoming an artist scratched the creative itch until the stories in her head were getting to be to loud for her to get anything else accomplished. She lives in St. Louis with her husband, son and Flemish Giant rabbit Chloe. In her spare time she likes to read, stalk celebrities on Twitter and create the type of art that people scratch their heads about.

Being a cosmetologist is not the easiest job for me, and after losing my best friend to her inner demons. I am bound and determined to not lose the man I love as well. They say in my line of profession you are more than what you claim. You are a therapist, a shrink, a person that listens to anything and everything. I am not that person. I have so much built up inside me I think I may be about to explode. I hope that this isn’t true because my heart picked someone that happens to be as inconsolable as I feel.
Who am I? Well, my name is Anna Henderson. I am just trying to live my life one moment at a time and praying that I don’t mess it up.
My Review
What can I say about this book that will convince you to give it a try? I think that the author does a great job of addressing something that can be so difficult to talk about – PTSD. I loved Blake. He decided to join the military to prove that he was better then he thought of himself. What he found was a group of men that became friends for life, before tragedy struck. Once he came home without his friends, he was seemingly normal. He did not lose his legs like his buddy Jameson. But the scars ran deep and were well-hidden, or were they?
He found that not only did he suffer from PTSD, but his favorite uncle suffered from it as well. I liked that the author touched on things that are not typical symptoms; she mentioned that his favorite uncle used cutting to “relieve” pressure from his hell, along with drinking and making bad decisions. In addition, Blake’s subconscious had him not only experiencing the need to drink and carouse, it also brought back a buddy he lost in the war.
Anna is a sweet breath of sunshine in Blake’s world. She centers him and calms him down. Anna’s own life is not all roses though, and she goes through a situation that brings on her own struggle with PTSD. Here is another thing I appreciated, PTSD does not just come from the military and the author acknowledges that in this book. Thankfully Blake is aware of what is going on, and pushes Anna to get the help she needs.
The characters are on the younger side so if you are older then the NA age group you might struggle with some of their actions, but I urge you to look beyond that and see the great meat and bones that you are left with.

WITHIN THESE WALLS
Within these walls, he became my solace, my sanctuary and my strength.
I am not strong. I am just a survivor of circumstance.
Isn’t that what we all do? Survive?
Each of us has our own set of circumstances to muddle through. Mine are just
more…complicated.
Born with a severe heart defect, I’ve seen the inside of a hospital room more than
my own bedroom.
I was drowning, a prisoner to the illness that owned me, until he appeared. He
thinks he’s blocked out the world with his tattoos and hard exterior, but I see the
real Jude, the one he so desperately wants to forget.
But is he the answer to my prayers or will he break my already damaged heart
forever?
My name is Lailah Buchanan, and this is our story of hope, redemption and
sacrificing it all for the one you love.
My Review
I have to say that each J.L.Berg book I have read is so very good. She has a way of taking me on a journey with the characters so completely that I want to be around them. I want to be a part of their lives. Ms. Berg is so good at getting me so invested in the story that there is no way I will not feel their emotions. Within These Walls is no different.
This is the story of Lailah and Jude, two broken souls who find each other in a hospital of all places. Lailah has lived her life in the hospital. Tests, doctors, she has no friends her age or who have lived like she has, and in many ways like she hasn’t lived. She is not the normal young lady who thinks all about the parties and such, or at least it seems. She has dealt with so much that she is mature beyond her years. Jude has given up everything and now haunts the halls of the hospital, taking the pain from his broken life and keeping it alive every day, even if his reason for doing so is no longer with him. Lailah, however, causes his heart to crack open and feel again. He is not altogether sure that is something he wants.
I loved that even stuck within the hospital walls their journey to love was not perfect. My heart melted with each and every item that was checked off Lailah’s list.
I suppose that it could be considered a bit unrealistic, how they meet, and fall in love, but honestly isn’t that what we are looking for? Isn’t that why you picked up a book in the first place, to live in someone else’s reality?
I do not like to give spoilers but I will say this, have a box of tissue nearby when you read of Jude and Lailah’s love story, you will need them. I highly recommend this book.
Excerpt
She looked around, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath of fresh air as it breezed
past her.
“I’m free!” she squealed.
“Well then, why are we standing around and wasting time? Let’s get the hell out of
here!” I laughed, grabbing her hand and tugging her in the direction of my car.
“I’m sorry it’s not that great-looking, but it runs,” I said, regarding the less than
stellar state of my car, which had probably seen more birthdays than she had.
“It’s green!” she exclaimed.
I threw her bags into the trunk. “Yep, split-pea, baby-shit green.”
“Eww…gross. Why did you have to ruin split-pea soup for me?” She laughed as we
got in.
“Well, that is a color!”
“I think we should name it,” she declared.
I turned the key. “The color? I thought I just did.” I pulled out of the parking spot and
drove the short distance out of the hospital.
We were officially free.
“No.” She laughed. “The car. Cars that are baby-shit green need to have a name.”
I turned my head with a look of mock surprise and shock. “Did I just hear you curse?
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a bad word leave those pretty little lips of yours before
in my life. Two seconds out of the hospital, and you’re already swearing like a sailor!
I think I’m having a bad effect on you.”
She stuck out her tongue and laughed. “I’ve cursed before—in my head and maybe
once or twice out loud,” she said, grinning. “You’re changing the subject. From this
day forward, I hereby do so-eth—”
“Do so-eth?” I couldn’t help but ask.
She was literally vibrating with excitement. Being out of the hospital had awoken
her spirit and had breathed fresh new life into her lungs.
“Shut up! It’s my fancy car dubbing speech. I’m supposed to sound like
Shakespeare.”
“Oh, sorry,” I faked a cough as we turned west. “Go on. You do so-eth?”
“I hereby name this car, um…” She looked around, searching, and finally her eyes
grew wide. “Yertle the Turtle!”
She was so proud of herself that she didn’t even notice where we were when I pulled
the car to a stop.
“Very clever, Sam I Am.” I laughed. “But Yertle the Turtle was blue.”
“He was not!”
“He was,” I urged. “In the book illustrations, he’s blue.”
She looked over at me with her arms folded over her chest. “How the heck do you
even know that?”
“My mom used to read to us a lot when I was little.” I shrugged. “And I’m smart,” I
added with a grin, tapping on my temple.
“Well, whatever. We’re calling it Yertle, even if it isn’t blue. Now, where are we? And
what are we doing?” she asked, looking up. She gasped when her eyes took in the
panoramic view of the ocean.
“We’re going to put your toes in the ocean.”

Jocelyn:
“Race ya there,”
I snicker, darting towards the bedroom I moved our clothes into, tossing his
bag into the hall.Let the games begin.Somehow, he beats me down to the
water – imagine that. With steeled armor, I keep my face stoic, my gait and
candor unfazed, as I approach, despite the urge to snicker at his bulged-out
eyes and jaw dropped into the ocean. And yeah, I noticed his hand dip
below the surface to adjust himself; doesn’t always shrink in cold water it would seem. His head jerks left, right, then
back to me as his eyes narrow to accusatory slits. “What’re you thinking,
Trouble? Public beach,” he sputters.Doe-eyed innocence, my lips twist
cleverly. “Not for two miles either direction it isn’t. Besides, what’s the
problem?” Surely it’s not my string-thong
bikini bottoms and lack of a top?If you told anyone, even Lys who’s known me forever, they’d bet on hell
freezing over twice before believing
I’m capable of such audacious, brazen antics, but I’m embracing it, rejoicing
in the Jocelyn he brings out. Alive; seeing clearly, smelling flowers miles
away, hearing the faintest of sounds – like I just started partaking in, and
enjoying, the world that’s surrounded me my whole life. His mouth curves upward at the
corner, a twinkle in his eyes reflecting off the water as he beckons me to him
with the leisurely crook of his finger.“Moi?” I mouth, pointing to myself.
My whole body’s buzzing, sexy satisfaction razoring through me as he slowly
nods. “Alright,” I huff in feigned inconvenience.I walk into the water as he walks
out, hoisting me up as we meet, wrapping my legs around his waist for me.“You’ll be my end, Jocelyn Craig,”
he says, almost demurely, almost a frown, heading us backward into the deeper
water.“The ending’s supposed to be the
best part.” I smile, leaning in to rest my forehead on his. “Do I win the game?”He glances down at my breasts –
nipples hardened from the cool water, his tongue lazily tracing his bottom lip.
“I’m afraid you just might.”

Everett is dying. And he’s spending his final days living, truly living. In doing so, he’s forcing me to feel, to heal. To come face to face with the demons I suppressed in my memory.

My Review
This is the second book from Brandy Rivers I have read and the first one I have read in the Others of Edenton series. Normally I am not one to start a series in the middle but when I saw the chance to review the book I did. I was glad I did. As I mentioned I usually will not start a series in the middle but once I started reading this book, I really enjoyed that while they are part of the series I really felt like it read like a stand alone. Characters were introduced, and their powers explained. Their relationships past and present explained. At the same time she did not tell you everything about the other relationships in the book, thus I now want to go back and read the first books in the series and I am now going to be waiting for Preston’s book as well. To me that is a sign of a really good author. No matter where you start her series it brings you in.
Devlin has been held for years by the Dales, as they abused him and his powers for their evil intent. As a dreamwalker he used to visit his sister in dreams, but once captured he stayed away for her protection. For 20 years he did not dreamwalk, until he dreamwalked with Jamie. Jamie a empath wolf shifter lives in Edenton and unknowingly is friends with Devlin’s sister Fallon. When he escapes and realizes this he goes to her. Their bond is not just in dreams but they are mates.
I liked that Devlin was not the alpha male. That after years of being captive he doubts himself and everything he has done. Jamie his mate, becomes his strength. She shores him up and reassures him. It is nice to see that the female was the strong one this time. I loved that when he was being dragged under a trance SHE became the Alpha and pulled him out of it and severed his link with the Dales.
All in all I really enjoyed this book, and will be reading the rest of the series. I recommend that you read them as well!

The moon shone bright over a crystal clear lake. Thousands of stars were reflected, like floating diamonds sparkling. The breeze blew gently through red cedar, pine, and maple. The clean mountain air reminded him of camping with his family when he was a boy.
It had been so long since he had the liberty, and desire, to enjoy nature. The water called to Devlin. Carefully, without a sound, he pulled the clothes from his body and placed them on the stump beside him.
With a slow breath, he walked into the gentle ripples, creating larger crests of his own. Warm water greeted him. He dove under, swimming deeper.
A splash caught Devlin’s attention. He broke the surface to find nothing, and no one. Closing his eyes, he reached out with his senses. A lone werewolf was close.
Panic flared through him, and he started for the shore, but a woman surfaced before him. A slow smile spread on her face when he flailed back, splashing her in his surprise.
“Your heart’s pounding.” Amusement sparkled in her pale blue topaz eyes as she placed one small hand over his chest. Warmth washed through him offering a calm he couldn’t remember ever feeling.
Yet, he was terrified the Dales were tracking him. A dream, nothing more than a dream. They can’t find me, he reminded himself.
“You startled me,” Devlin replied.
“Hmm.” Her foot brushed against his calf, sending a shiver through his entire body. She tapped her finger to her chin. “You remind me of someone, but I can’t figure out who.”
Intrigued, and certainly heading toward aroused, he asked, “What makes you say that?”
One corner of her shiny pink mouth lifted impishly. “Don’t know, but you do.” Her voice had taken on a husky purr which effectively made his blood pump faster.
A dream, just a dream, he told himself. Then he did something bold, something he hadn’t done in so long he was sure he’d fail, even in a fantasy. “What’s a sweet little wolf like you doing out here all alone?”
Her giggle was melodic as her already dazzling eyes lit up. “Looking for love in all the wrong places.”
As if on cue, his resistance broke. Her tiny waist fit perfectly in his hands, her hips flared in a way that made him groan. Devlin propelled them closer to the shore, until his feet touched bottom.
Before he could make his move, her legs locked around his hips and her fingers caressed up his shoulder and neck to delve into his hair. She grazed her lips over his. Afraid to take things too far, he slid his hands up her back, pressing her full breasts against his chest.
Needing more of her taste, he deepened their kiss. Devlin felt more alive than he could remember. A dream, just a blasted dream, his brain chimed in. The knowledge didn’t stop him from sweeping his tongue into her mouth when she opened to him.
Her body undulated in tune with his, and her heated core slid against his hardened length. The urge to bury himself in her was too much.
Pulling back, he panted, “Your name? Need your name, Precious.”
“Precious?” She licked her lips as she stared back at him with something like awe in her big blue eyes.
He tipped his forehead to hers and breathed in her wild but seductive scent. “You’ve set me free of my old life. You’ve given me something to look forward to.” He didn’t know where the words came from, but he didn’t dare take them back. They felt right.
“Jamie Abrams. You better come to me.” There was a command hidden in her sweet sassy voice, one he truly wanted to obey. “I’ll be waiting.”
He nodded, rolling her name through his head like a fine wine over his tongue.
